With Donald Trump’s impeachment trial beginning in the U.S. Senate, the man some refer to as Trump’s Russian handler is facing a political endgame of his own, thousands of miles away.

Vladimir Putin’s near 20-year run as president of Russia may be nearing an end, but that doesn’t mean the recently jailed Alexei Navalny will be leading a popular revolution any time soon. In fact, someone far worse than Putin could be waiting in the wings.
